Absolut to double Swedish production capacity
Absolut is to double production capacity at its Nobbelov plant in Sweden to produce up to 100 million litres a year.
Absolut parent Pernod Ricard would like to see a return to the sales volumes for the brand that pertained prior to the downturn in the economy.
In the year to the end of June 2009, Pernod Ricard reported Absolute sales down six per cent which it blamed on the recession in the US - the brand’s biggest market - and a change of distributors in all markets following the company’s acquisition of the brand from former owner Vin & Sprit.
According to The Absolut Company’s Vice President Krister Asplund,  “This is preparing for the future and when we need it we will use it”.
